Mini motocross means real motocross bikes in kids’ size, not toys. Honda builds the small CRF range for this – the CRF50F for the youngest from around four years, the CRF110F as the next step and the CRF125F for older kids and teenagers, also as Big Wheel. Kids motocross from 4 years – the right age
Children can learn to ride motocross from 4 years. At the MX-Academy, the kids motocross courses run with child-sized motorcycles, rental gear and experienced coaches – every child is challenged, but never overwhelmed. There is no upper limit: older kids and teenagers continue in their own groups, the matching motocross bikes are listed under youth motocross.
Which size fits? CRF50F, CRF110F or CRF125F
Honda CRF50F – 49 cc, semi-automatic gearbox without clutch lever: the entry model for the youngest from around 4 years.
Honda CRF110F – 109 cc, also without clutch lever: the next step for children from around 7 years.
Honda CRF125F – with clutch and four gears, for older kids and teenagers. The Big Wheel has larger wheels, more ground clearance and a higher seating position.
What matters is that your child reaches the ground safely with both feet and can hold the bike at a standstill. Honda Motorrad Zürich lets your child sit on the bike before you buy.
Gear for kids motocross
Helmet, goggles, gloves, boots and protectors belong on the bike from the very first ride. In the course, the MX-Academy provides the complete gear; your own can be found in the kids motocross shop. The right size matters – do not buy “to grow into”.

From what age can a child ride motocross?
From 4 years. The MX-Academy runs kids motocross courses from 4 years – with child-sized motorcycles, rental gear and experienced coaches.
Which mini motocross fits which height?
The CRF50F is for the youngest, the CRF110F the next step and the CRF125F for older kids and teenagers; the Big Wheel suits longer legs. Your child must reach the ground safely with both feet.
Does kids motocross need a course?
It is recommended: in the course, kids learn throttle control, braking and cornering with a rental bike and gear. No previous experience and no licence are needed.
Where can a kids motocross bike be ridden?
Only off the road: on private grounds with the owner’s permission or on official tracks. The small CRF models are not road-legal.
Are kids motocross bikes available used?
Yes, regularly. A used bike is worth it especially with kids models, because children often outgrow them after a few operating hours.
