Riding a motorcycle for the first time – without a licence and without any experience: the motorcycle beginner gift voucher is the present for everyone who has always wanted to ride themselves. On the fenced-off MX-Academy grounds in Schlatt TG, you ride without a licence and without a learner’s permit, on a light beginner bike, at your own pace and with a coach at your side.

How you learn to ride
You learn on small, light motorcycles with an automatic gearbox. At the beginning, the coaches ride with you if necessary, until you have the motorcycle fully under control. Theory is followed by a short dry run, then it is on to the beginner track: soft ground, generous run-off zones and no oncoming traffic. By the end of the day at the latest, you ride the beginner course on your own – maybe even the track for advanced riders.
On the shorter motorcycle taster course, only the riding time on the track is shorter – all other content stays the same.

How the course day works
- Welcome on site, a short safety briefing and theory on the basics of motocross.
- The complete protective gear is fitted: helmet, goggles, chest protector, knee protectors, boots and gloves.
- You get a Honda CRF in the right size.
- First attempts in the separate learning zone: pulling away, accelerating, shifting, braking, steering – at your own pace.
- On to the motocross track: the coach rides ahead, shows the lines and corrects your seating position and where you look.
All courses take place at the MX-Academy motocross grounds in Schlatt TG, around 30 minutes from Zurich. There are 4 different tracks on site, including a separate kids track – every group rides on its own track. Please bring long trousers, sturdy shoes and a change of clothes for after the course; everything else is fitted on site.

No. On the fenced-off grounds in Schlatt TG, you ride without a driving licence and without a learner’s permit.
I have never ridden a motorcycle – is that possible?
Yes. You learn on light motorcycles with an automatic gearbox, after theory and a dry run. At the beginning, the coaches ride with you if necessary.
What is the difference between the taster course and the complete package?
The motorcycle taster course has 1 hour of riding time incl. breaks and only takes place every second Wednesday. The complete package is a full course day of 6–8 hours with 3.5 hours (Wednesday) or 4 hours (Saturday) of riding time incl. breaks. On the taster course only the riding time is shorter; all other content stays the same.
From what age is the course possible?
The motorcycle taster course is open to all beginners aged 4 and over.
What gear is included?
Complete protective gear: helmet, goggles, chest protector, knee and elbow protectors, gloves and motocross boots – from kids sizes up to XXL. Please bring long trousers and sturdy shoes.
How is the voucher redeemed?
Online at www.mx-academy.ch: when registering in the event calendar, choose the course and enter the voucher number.
How long is the voucher valid?
Two years from the date of purchase. The expiry date is printed on the voucher.
